Foreign body in food item is any extraneous matter that may (seeds, hardened food) or may not be (glass, metal) related to the food material. Usually foreign bodies render the food unfit for human consumption. Our technicians utilizes various techniques to identify the foreign body and/or compare it with a known reference sample.
NQAC Mulgrave used Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF) technologies to identify foreign body samples in food items. These analytical techniques are used to identify organic, polymeric & inorganic materials which help in fast & reliable root cause analysis for foreign body incidents in food items.
